What's Old is New Again

Over the weekend we showered Baby Gigi with love and presents. I was thrilled to give my sister-in-law these pillows, which I created using my mother-in-law's old needlepoint pieces. She made the original pillows for my sister-in-laws over 20 years ago, so I reworked them into fresh new pillows for the nursery. This was such a special project to sew and I'm overjoyed for Katherine and Matt. We can't wait to meet you Baby Gigi!!
For each pillow I used vintage handkerchiefs and crocheted trims that my Mom has collected over the years, and paired them with new fabrics and trims that I dyed by hand.
The original pillows...
Layered hankies and trims...
This yellow trim was from a vintage tablecloth and the fabric was a sundress of my mother-in-law's that never got worn. The orange and white fabric (the larger ruffle) was also part of the dress.
At the shower with the Mama-to-be!
***If you have old needlepoint pieces that need a fresh look, send me an email at jwkstyle(at)gmail.com. I'd be happy to work with you in creating something special!
