Beaded collars have been around forever and luckily you can still find them in good shape, some even attached to their original dresses. I took this one off a $10 polyester dress (circa 1960) and stitched it up to wear as a necklace.
Once you remove the collar from its original neckline with a seam ripper, all you need is a needle and thread. If any hook and eyes are missing, those are also easy to replace.
Working around the outer edge, sew the lining to the front beaded piece with a basic whip stitch. If any beads are loose, reinforce them as you go.
Ebay and Etsy both have a good selection of vintage beaded collars and you can find them for $10 all the way up to $165: Vintage Swarovski, Vintage Pearls, Vintage Beads. I love wearing mine with a stripe tee but it's also an easy way to transform a black cocktail dress or strapless gown in an instant.
