Dressing Bump #4

Maternity clothes have come a long way since I was first pregnant 8 years ago, but I'm a big believer in buying non-maternity pieces that you can re-wear postpartum. With forgiving pleats, gathers and longer hem lines, I managed to find basics this time around that will also be flattering with extra baby weight in the fall. And most everything is on sale right now!

Black Old Navy Dress {similar here and here} and Pom Pom Clutch from Indigo
World Market Tunic As a Cover Up {On Sale!}

I couldn't avoid maternity bathing suits, so I found inexpensive options like this striped one {I cut the straps to make it into a halter} and it also comes in Gingham and Polka Dots. Some of my other favorites to mix and match are from ASOS, Target Liz Lange, and Old Navy. My rollable Straw Sun Hat and nude flip flops have been summer staples.

Wilt Tank {similar to this HATCH swing tank} with J.Crew Pull-On Shorts and Target sandals. My Baggu Zip Bags have been awesome for wet swimsuits in the pool bag.

Old Navy Trapeze Top {on sale!} with my DIY white maternity jeans, Forever 21 Sandals, Clare V. Tote
For dressier occasions, I've worn flowy dresses and added fun accesssories with a bold lip
Fiesta Engagement Party
DVF Trapeze Dress for a Wedding
My favorite part of being pregnant in the summer is one-size-fits-all caftans you can dress up or down!! Some favorites include the Roberta Roller Rabbit Silk KaftanMirth Kaftans, and The Storq Caftan.
I found this open-front kimono from Forever 21 (similar here) and sewed it into a V-neck caftan that I wore as a cover-up at the lake last weekend.
Black and white is a classic combo that works well for summer and fall. I got this Black V-neck swing dress (almost identical to this Hatch one) and I also tried on this flattering striped tank dress. Gap also has a non-maternity V-Neck Swing Dress on sale right now.
 My embroidered Joie top {similar one by Mayra here} that I've worn with white jeans and wedges will get swapped for dark denim and suede booties with a nursing tank underneath after the baby. Lines like Ulla Johnson, Tucker, and Vince all have flowy styles that work great during and after pregnancy.

Other basics I've stocked up on include this super soft Target chambray button-down top that will also be nice for nursing. I still love the Target Maternity Tanks, and I've been wearing this Maternity Button Down Tank-I ditched the waist tie and snipped the thread loops on both sides. This Gauze Dress (I dry clean this one) and this Non-Maternity Tie-Dye Maxi Dress are also on heavy rotation.
I wear my black ASOS T-Shirt Dress {On sale right now!} religiously, and own multiple sizes for during and after pregnancy. There's also a navy and white striped maternity version that reminds me of this Hatch one {for a fraction of the cost} and would be so cute with booties in the fall!
ASOS also has an Off The Shoulder Dress in Maternity and Non-Maternity sizes that is a steal! In my first trimester, I ordered the ASOS Maternity Striped T-shirt 2-pack, which I've been wearing with white jeans or chambray drawstring shorts. There's no shirring on the sides, so I'll wear them after the baby.

Other bump-friendly options include Anthropologie Swing Dresses, linen tunics and dresses by CP SHADES, Topshop, embroidered Mexican tops from Amano (or Mi Golondrina) and DVF Wrap Dresses. One of my favorite inexpensive boutiques in Houston, Pomp & Circumstance, ships for free and has lots of tops, tunics, and dresses-always under $100!
