Ever since P moved out of her crib, I've been trying to make her room feel a bit more grown up. By introducing a few new fabrics, and using what we already had, it's finally starting to look like a little girl's room!
For the daybed, I made the 2 bolsters out of black and white striped fabric that I originally ordered for a tablecloth. The handmade doll and artwork were brought back from Uganda and the green blanket was mine as a baby. Since P is really, really into animals this crewel fabric from Clarence House was a big hit...
For the back of the pillows, I used 24" tea towels by Le Jacquard Francais. I wanted something durable that would look good on both sides since they'll be tossed around (as they should be!)
I cinched the end of the bolsters with gold buttons, to coordinate with the trim...
P's quilt and the Euro shams used to be cream, and stained, so we dyed them purple. (It took 2 bottles of Violet RIT in the washing machine.) And the orange paisley pillow case is an old favorite.
We haven't disassembled the baby bed yet so it's currently being used as blanket storage...
I'm working on some polka dot garland to add to her collection but I have yet to make two pieces alike!
Stay tuned!!

Oh my goodness, how ADORABLE is Pearl's bedroom. Okay, in case it wasn't clear before now, you are absolutely the most creative person EVER! I love the pillows and the gold buttons on the black and white. And how cute are those animal pillows?! Great job, what a lucky (and chic!) girl P is! xoxo
FABULOUS... Next time you are in town you need to take pics of Gigi's room with the pillows you made so everyone can see the complete picture and how perfect they are! You are a genius.
Absolutely Kaki!!
Julie, I'm thinking pillows might be a good 1st How-To on the sewing machine??
